The Space Coast Runners Scholarship was established in 1999 to be awarded to two local Brevard County graduating seniors. Since that time, SCR has taken great pride in providing assistance to help local students further their education. In 2021 the scholarship took on a new name and meaning -- it became the SCR Christian Lake Memoridal Student Scholarship Fund. It would now honor the memory of member, Christian Lake and would provide a way to further his young, giving heart that was taken away from us too soon.

Christian Lake, even though young in years, made a lasting impression on those who knew him. He was a talented runner with a giving heart, a big, bright smile and a caring will to help others. That's why the SCR Board of Directors unanimously decided to rename the scholarship in Christian's honor and memory in 2021.

Christian was a SCR member with his family and an outstanding runner in high school and collegiately at Florida Institute of Technology. Sadly, he was lost in a tragic car accident at the age of 21. He left his family and friends with so many warm memories that inspire them every day.
